Welcome to September! Classes are well underway, as are other activities like sports, clubs, jobs, and old routines (or maybe brand new ones). This new academic year brings us new challenges and new resources to face those challenges. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is continually working to improve our defenses against cyber-attackers and I want to explain the ramifications of some of these improvements as they may impact your user experience.
Welp! August is here! Welcome to the end of summer (although the temperatures will not agree with that statement for a while, most likely) and the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester. Some of you will read this well before classes start and others may not see it until after August 26th, so I’ll say “welcome” to those of you who have not read this newsletter before and “welcome back” to those who have.
Is it already November? Absolutely, it is, and I know everyone is welcoming the fall weather and the approaching end of classes. We just had a super October celebrating Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Thank you to everyone who read the weekly articles, participated in the virtual scavenger hunt, and completed their cybersecurity awareness training. We’ll recap Cybersecurity Awareness Month first, then get to November news.
It is WAY past time for the September newsletter. My apologies for the tardiness of this post, but things have been busy. The timing of this newsletter is actually a bit fortuitous because of all the activity here in the Information Security department as we gear up for Cybersecurity Awareness Month which is….next month! Yes, October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
We made it! October has passed, the change from Daylight to Standard time is coming, and November has arrived. Exams have been completed, registration is coming, and we wrapped up a great Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
