OpenClaw- Personal AI Assistant

Lobster

OpenClaw, a personal AI assistant once known as Clawdbot and after that, Moltbot (renamed due to issues with trademarks), helps complete tedious tasks in the workplace and at home. The assistant that looks like a cute lobster can do more than look nice- the assistant can clean your emails, send messages, manage your events and calendar, check you in for flights, make grocery lists, create files, send emails, run commands, update systems, and many more tasks (OpenClaw 2026, Muhammad 2026).

OpenClaw was founded and created by Peter Steinberger in late 2025. OpenClaw has a new name because of the recent partnership between OpenAI and Steinberger. OpenAI is providing financial and technical support.

The only problem with this fabulous assistant is that there are many back doors that attackers can come through, and the lobster is facing many security issues in only the first two months of 2026. There are RCE (remote code execution) exploits through crafted malicious links that compromise the user’s computer, and older versions of the assistant has even greater risk of security (Lakshmanan 2026).

The best way to securely use this bot is to use the most up to date version and install the open-source software “SecureClaw” from GitHub. This is an add-on much like an extension of Chrome to ensure that the tasks being done on your laptop or PC are protected. OpenClaw has also recently paired with VirusTotal, so one can expect many future updates on security.

Below is a video instructing a user how to download OpenClaw and what tasks the lobster can execute. Again, it is important to follow security measures and install SecureClaw while using this assistant!

Here are even more resources about this remarkable software. Before you consider using it, realize that using it comes with significant risks and its use on college managed computers is highly discouraged.
